XCL.is is the “eXperimental Cellular Lab InfraStructure”.
Pronounce it like “excellis”.
XCL.im is a sister domain, you’ll see that too. “Excellim”.
XCL is provides a home to a community of experimenters interested in practical amateur cellular. That’s lowercase amateur, a superset of Amateur. We use all spectrum and licensing we can get our hands on.
Naturally, Amateur spectrum is preferable where possible, so this will still have a distinctly Amateur focus, but amateur options like LTE-U and CBRS will still benefit.
The goal is to provide systems, networks, and a community to learn and experiment with LTE and other cellular and similar technologies, and ultimately provide real services that are practical and useful on federated networks that the usual carriers, as a general rule, can’t deliver without contracts for many tens to hundreds of $MM.
Our main homes are on Github for code/docs and Discord for semi-realtime chat.
Discord is to be treated like IRC (ephemeral) and not to be treated as a store of information.

Resources and other important things get sync’d over to Github eventually (it usually takes two weeks or so) (As of 2025 April, I am way behind on this, but I’ll fix it up for or just after NEARFest).
If you’d like to take part and truly can’t stand Discord or Github,
send an email to xcl [at) tarxvf ]dot( tech
and we can put together
something like office hours on Jitsi.
